Fabrics that are flammable, melt easily, or conduct heat poorly are not suitable for oven mitts. Avoid using fabrics like polyester, acrylic, or neoprene, as they can melt or burn under high heat. Cotton, while traditionally used, can become dangerous if it gets wet, so a waterproof layer or silicone is recommended for safety.
